FETC 2025: Embracing the AI-Driven Classroom

Hannah Williams

The Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC) 2025 was a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come—and how much potential lies ahead in EdTech. The spotlight this year? Artificial intelligence (AI).

The ryco.io team had the chance to experience the buzz firsthand. Educators, Edtech companies, and industry leaders were all excited to dive into the possibilities of AI and what the future of education could look like with it leading the charge. That said, not everyone was sold just yet. It was clear some attendees were cautiously curious, wanting to learn more and figure out how to make AI work for them rather than feeling intimidated by it. Whether we like it or not, though, AI is rapidly becoming a central part of our society. Today’s students—our youngest learners—are growing up with AI as their norm. It’s on us to guide its use in a way that benefits everyone and keeps us heading in the right direction.

The Most Striking Reality

Our VP of Curriculum, Cait, shared one fact from Holly Clark’s session that stopped us in our tracks: "By the time today’s kindergarteners graduate high school, AI will be one billion times smarter than a human."

A billion. Let that sink in. That’s such an unfathomable number that it’s hard to even wrap your head around it. But here’s the thing—this isn’t just about preparing students to live in an AI-driven world. It’s about teaching them to lead in it, to shape the future in ways we can’t even imagine yet.

The Role of Educators

Here’s what stood out at FETC: AI isn’t about replacing teachers—it’s about amplifying their strengths. One educator summed it up perfectly: "AI is great for generating resources and feedback, but human connections will always be the heart of learning."

Teachers aren’t looking to offload their jobs; they’re looking for tools to save time, reduce stress, and engage students more deeply. The teacher-student relationship is, and always will be, at the core of education.

Supporting Educators with AI

That’s where we come in. Teachers are eager to embrace AI, but the question is always, where do I even start? That’s why we’re so proud of rybot, ryco.io’s AI-powered teaching assistant. It simplifies lesson planning, translates resources, answers questions, and frees up time so teachers can focus on what matters most: their students.

A Collaborative Future

If there’s one thing FETC 2025 made crystal clear, it’s this: AI is here to stay, and the future of education depends on collaboration between educators and innovators. So, where will we be next year? With how fast things are moving, who knows? All we know is we’ll see you there—and we can’t wait to find out.
